Sail the Apostle Islands

65 US dollars

Service Description

Sail among the amazing Apostle Islands in Lake Superior September 9-10, 2023! The Apostle Islands are one of the most amazing places to explore. This is the opportunity of a lifetime to enjoy the crystal blue and teal waters and the carved sandstone shoreline, explore islands and sea caves, and relax among this National Lakeshore paradise. You do not need any knowledge of sailing or previous experience to take part in this adventure, and you don’t need any gear other than a sleeping bag and pillow. Board the Dreamcatcher for 2 days of sailing on Lake Superior. Arrive at Bayfield City Dock in the evening for a complimentary night in the harbor aboard the boat. Set sail in the morning to begin an adventure among the islands. We will visit remote beaches, unique sites, sea caves, sand spits, and hike, swim, stargaze, see lighthouses, and maybe enjoy a bonfire on the beach. Learn about the unique history of the islands. At the end of the day, you will sleep aboard the boat in a quiet cove or one of many harbors in the Apostle Islands. The boat includes 2-person shared beds, a bathroom, kitchen, and the galley. Women will have fun, feel safe, be empowered, build confidence, and learn new skills. Instruction includes: fire building, cooking, water filtration, safety skills, and more. You can also really get the experience of sailing with as much instruction as you want including sailing techniques, seamanship, navigation, and anchoring. Daily reflection, conversation, and debriefing will help participants transfer skills learned, and experiences gained, to their daily life. “Sharing the indescribable and transformative benefits of nature and wild places with women brings me TREMENDOUS joy! Whether it is a day hike, evening paddle, or multi-day trip, I experience rejuvenation and peace during my own wilderness adventures, and I’ve witnessed similar benefits for friends, family, and students that I’ve guided.” –MaryJo, 2021
